Effective 26 May 2016, Thailand based Compass Hospitality Group has entered the Scotland market with the management of The Columba Hotel in Inverness, a city located on the banks of picturesque River Ness and just south of Scottish Highlands.
Inside the hotel’s grand exterior façade, there are 82 guestrooms and spacious suites, each appointed in classic designs and equipped for modern-day lifestyle conveniences. Many of the guestrooms enjoy commanding views of the renowned Inverness Castle just across River Ness.
As the hotel is located along River Ness, its Victoria Restaurant and MacNabs Bar & Bistro offer a choice of indoor dining in cosseted comfort or alfresco dining outdoors on the riverside terrace. With Inverness Castle and River Ness as a backdrop, dining cannot be more pleasurable.
The hotel’s prime location in the heart of Inverness provides convenient access to many shops, restaurants, churches, museums and attractions that cater to different lifestyle preferences. Ness Bridge is less than a minute walk away from the hotel and it connects the hotel to the opposite bank of River Ness. Located south-west and 20 minutes’ drive away from the hotel is Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition (a multi-media attraction) and nearby Loch Ness, home of the legendary Loch Ness monster.
The hotel’s new owner is Singapore based Seacare Hospitality Pte Ltd and this is the fifth hotel Seacare Hospitality has partnered Compass Hospitality as the hotel operator. Seacare Hospitality’s CEO Lim Chye Teen said, “Nine months ago in August 2015, Compass Hospitality and Seacare Hospitality jointly acquired Big Sleep portfolio of hotels in Cardiff, Cheltenham and Eastbourne. This was followed by our joint acquisition of The Victoria Hotel in Oldham in February this year. Compass Hospitality has lifted the performance of hotels and we are delighted to appoint Compass Hospitality as the operator of our fifth hotel in the UK.”

Compass Hospitality Group’s first entry into the UK market was in April 2015. Since then, Compass Hospitality managed hotels in the UK can be found in Shrewsbury, Halifax, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Eastbourne, Nottingham, Oxford, Manchester and now Inverness.
