Compass Hospitality has secured its 13th property in the UK with the Best Western Queen’s Hotel in Dundee, which has been acquired by a Seacare Hospitality Singapore and Compass Hospitality Joint venture. In addition to being the latest property to join Compass Hospitality’s expanding UK collection, it is also the second property to be located in Scotland.
The Best Western Queen’s Hotel is situated in the lively and vibrant centre of Dundee’s West End. The hotel also benefits from a combined proximity to both leisure-oriented attractions such as restaurant, shops and theatres, as well as to the University of Dundee and Abertay University for students and professionals alike. Additional hotel facilities include a bar and eatery, conference facilities and ample on-site parking.
The hotel houses 53 en-suite rooms furnished to varying specifications, ranging from double and twin rooms, single rooms, superior rooms and family rooms. Double room types are available in king or super king bedding, while single and twin rooms come with single sized beds. Superior rooms are an ideal option for honeymoon travellers, and family rooms are appropriately equipped with a double and single bed arrangement. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also provided throughout the hotel.
The Best Western Queen’s Hotel’s bustling Q-Bar and Eatery offers a well-rounded combination of food and beverage items throughout the day. Breakfast is served alongside morning tea and coffee with cakes and biscuits available throughout the day. The restaurant offers Scottish pub favourites from soft, fresh sandwiches and homemade soups to hot main courses of chicken skewers and steak pie. Private dining arrangements can also be made on special request.
The Q-Bar has a well-earned position in the heart of Dundee’s vibrant social scene. Boasting an appealing range of fine Scottish Malts, artisan craft ales and spirits, the Q-Bar is amply stocked to serve a wide variety of tastes. In addition to this, the Q-Bar stocks all the favourite tipples and cocktails including Tennants Lager, bottled beers and a great range of spirits and wines.
The hotel has also been host to weddings spanning over 125 years, and is well practiced in delivering a dedicated and professional wedding experience. The hotel’s Victoria Suite and Thomson Mural provide for a stunning backdrop as well as a grand entrance hall for welcoming guests.
Conference and meeting facilities are also available for business travellers, with the on-site parking able to accommodate up to 70 vehicles. Conference bookings come with complimentary Wi-Fi, television, flipcharts, blackout and staging facilities, stationary and projection screens. From small meetings to large events, the hotel staff are experienced and on hand to provide a warm welcome, full technical back-up, and lunch with tea-break services.
Matthew Welbourn, Executive Vice President of Operations in the UK for Compass Hospitality, said: “The Best Western Queen’s Hotel in Dundee is a charming and well-established property with whom we are confident in combining our innovative and modern management techniques with the hotel’s rustic qualities.”
Compass Hospitality’s President and CEO, Harmil Singh, said: “We are gaining confidence in the UK, and in addition to our portfolio of properties our local workforce is continuing to grow and gain presence in the industry. Dundee has also recently been dubbed as a worldwide ‘hot destination’ by leading news outlets, and so we are thrilled to be a part of this up and coming destination.”
